I’m Larissa, also known as Blonde Moxie. I’m 26 years old, but am told I act much older. I live in the great metropolis known as Toronto and I love my dirty, stinky, angry and egotistical city! I find positivity in everything and believe in karma. My parents raised me well and for that I am grateful and blessed. I have a wonderful handsome husband who is a spectacular musician (http://thehowlingbullets.com) and an all around great guy, we’ve been together almost 4 years. I live my life like it’s the 1950s but with the technological conveniences of the modern world. I’m a vintage/retro/kitsch/Atomic age/Googie/Tiki/Mid-century/antique enthusiast, my house and closet are full of these gems. I’m a very eclectic person and draw inspiration from many different things. If I could, I’d live either in 1990s era Los Angeles, 1970s era New York or 1920s era Chicago. My favourite bands are The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More, Gogol Bordello, Type O Negative, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Depeche Mode. I also listen to kitschy lounge music from the 50s/60s/70s. I love horror and grindhouse films, and weird teenage angst movies. I don’t usually say this much about myself anywhere or to anyone but hey, what the hell.
I’m a full time freelance Makeup Artist and Hairstylist. I am also part of Toronto’s film technician union NABET. I’ve been working in the industry almost 8 years now, and I do just about everything – film/television (straight & effects), theatre, fashion (alternative/creative/avant garde etc), photo, bodypainting, airbrushing, weddings, special events and personal, I even teach sometimes! I bust my ass in this industry and don’t take shit and I don’t do drama, I love what I do and it shows. Check http://www.blondemoxiemakeup.com for more info and stay tuned here to keep track of daily projects.
As my hobby and extension of work (because one can never work too much!) I stage manage for the Toronto Burlesque scene. I’ve been involved for about 5 years now and am exclusive to the Toronto Burlesque Festival (http://torontoburlesque.com/), Skin Tight Outta Sight! (http://www.skintightouttasight.com/ ) and Great Canadian Burlesque (http://greatcanadianburlesque.com/). I’ve met so many amazing people through this scene and have gotten so many amazing opportunities. I’m so glad to be involved in such a creative and open-minded community that embraces everything from the beautiful to the downright strange. I love my stripteasing friends!
So there’s me in (more than) a few words. I can’t wait to meet all of you.
If you have any questions, post in my Ask Box “Pick My Brain”.
